Martuscello, a graduate student at the University of South Florida, has been active, adult children playing soccer and basketball, but still sees decline in his health, and increase his weight. “Although very active I still get the weight of more than 280 pounds which prompted me to become another statistic in the obesity epidemic,” he said. “It became clear that only become active will not be enough.”
When his brother’s death had a significant impact on the important decision to change, get a kick out of something Martuscello’s more fundamental that everyone has faced at one point or another: insecurity. “I watched friends dating girls while the closest I got a girl to be their friend,” he said. In addition, he had the wrong kind of attention from his peers. “I quickly became a source of comic relief for a lot.”
